I have read many reviews on many Schroeder. Some good, some bad. All I can say about this particular shredder is it works, and works very good. It was a very good deal compared to other Schroeder. I have only had it a short while, but am very satisfied with it.

The Best Shredder Yet!
This is an honest review of the Amazon Basics 8-Sheet Cross-Cut Paper Shredder that I have been using for about 9 months now. It replaced an older Amazon Basics 6-Sheet Paper Shredder.Pros: I really like this paper shredder as Amazon has made numerous updates from the previous design that really make this model stand out. Cross-cutting the paper is far better than a straight cut when cutting up sensitive information. This unit is an 8-sheet and has plenty of power, though I rarely do more than 2 or 3 sheets at a time. The size of the can is a standard size that easily accommodates most personal shredding. It chops paper and credit cards with ease. I also like how they added a handle, making it easy to dump, along with a window so you know when it is full. I havenāt had any issues with mine overheating or stopping. In terms of the internal parts, the shredder has had no issues.Opportunities: None. It appears Amazon has listened to its customers and improved significantly on prior designs.Overall: This is an excellent paper shredder for home use.

Buy it already!
This works perfect! I have had a collection of credit cards that have been expired for years but just never tossed… my husband gladly shredded them all for me with ease! I have only had one jam and that was what I believe to be user error because my husband had put too many papers in at once. I feel like this was a quality shredder and will hold up well for years to come! The top part is a little heavy but if you hold it by the handle when you remove it from the bottom it’s really not an issue. I do find the noise level to be a little louder than I would like but I usually just lay the things I need shredded on top and wait for everyone to be awake to use it! My kids enjoy seeing what is new to shred LOL. I will say now that i’ve caught up the things I had accumulated to shred I don’t usually do more than 1 or 2 pages at once, but when I first got it I did do probably 4 or 5 pages at once. I know the capacity is pretty good because it never jammed on me when I did that! I would recommend this to anyone thinking about getting a shredder and composting it after! My garden has really enjoyed them!

A little loud but gets the job done
This shredder is a bit louder than I expected, but it works perfectly. It handles multiple sheets at once without jamming and shreds fast. The compact size and clean white look are a bonus. If noise isnāt a big deal to you, itās a solid choice.

Good quality at a good price
We were shredding a pile of documents and our old shredder died. We were able to get this one the same day (YMMV). We finished our prior pile of shred and keep going – no issues. The clear window is convenient to tell how full the receptacle is. The motorized top has a handle to easily lift it off to empty the bin. We’ve shredded about six pages at once, though it is supposed to be able to support more.

Works wonderfully
It works just fine. Itās loud but not disruptively loud to where you canāt sit next to it and use it or be in the same room if someone else is using it. Easy to set up and operate. Shreds paper and folders just fine. You can shred one sheet or even three at a time if you wish. Not a bad on capacity since its size. But after 30th I would say push down on the pile inside for a few more sheets.

Mostly fine with the exception of one incident
Last night I came home to a terrifying grinding noise and strong odor of burning plastic coming from my workstation. In a panic I checked my laptop to see if it had overheated, since it was fine I just started unplugging stuff. It occurred to me that the dryer in my building is directly below so I ran downstairs fully expecting it to be on fire. Everything was chill downstairs so I ran back up and finally noticed that this paper shredder was possessed and had apparently been running nonstop shredding absolutely nothing. Obviously I unplugged it and the noise ceased, relieved that my apartment hadnāt burned down I carried on with my night. Other than that itās been working fine for 8 years. 4 stars

Great shredder for home, or possibly small office. It is quiet, truly does accept 15 pages at a go, and after shredding 4 large garbage bags worth of papers over more than an hour, it never slowed, jammed, or overheated. Being wheeled is helpful, as is the large removable bucket. Easy to set-up and use. Would recommend. (Note It replaced a cheap, basic 15yr old 5 page shredder, which could only really handle 1-2 pages at time and constantly slowed, overheated and jammed, so that was my benchmark and the improvement is fantastic).

I picked up this shredder for home office use, and itās been exactly what I needed. Itās compact enough to fit under a desk, looks clean in white, and doesnāt take up much space at all.It handles regular documents with no problem, even when I feed in a few sheets at a time. Iāve also used it to shred old credit cards and junk mail, and it powers through without jamming. The crosscut design leaves the pieces small enough to feel secure for personal documents.The bin is easy to empty and doesnāt make too much of a mess when I pull it out.
