OUR Origins are rooted in sumi
The Kuretake brand represents the arts and crafts lifestyle with the use of color and shapes.

‘ZIG’ is the brand name for Kuretakeās pen and marker which has been loved by many people.
In the 1970ās, Japan experienced nationwide depression during the post-war recession. People everywhere sought out low priced yet high quality stationery productions, and in this era came the birth of the new ‘Kuretake ZIG’ Fine liner pen. ZIG comes from the word ‘zigzag’, a concept based on the fluid, back and forth motion which comes with writing.
Kuretake Co., Ltd. was established in 1902 at Nara in Japan. Since then, by combining our Sumi Ink(Japanese Calligraphy Ink) with our own technological developments, we have achieved recognition as a manufacturer of high quality stationery products. With confidence that we could utilize our unique knowledge of multi-colored pigment inks, we decided to expand into Art & Crafts industry.

Good quality calligraphy markers
I have been writing in calligraphy for over 25 years and have used a variety of calligraphy pens and markers. I really like these calligraphy markers compared to other brands of calligraphy markers. Each marker is double-sided with one 2mm and one 5mm felt tip. This is a nice and practical feature. I prefer to use the small tip most of the time. This set includes pure red, pure green, pure blue and pure black markers. The colors are very bright and vivid. I use these markers for scrapbooking and for writing names on the envelopes of greeting cards and invitations. The ink is acid free, photo safe and archival quality which makes the markers perfect for scrapbooking. Calligraphy on envelopes always looks elegant and sophisticated. I always get compliments on my writings. Many recipients of my cards and invitations say they save the envelopes.I would like to note that I used fountain calligraphy pens for many years. The ink flows smoothly and the writing looks sharp. However, there are disadvantages to using fountain pens. First, the ink in fountain pens is not colorfast and fades with time. Second, the ink I used was not labeled as acid free, photo safe or archival quality. Third, the ink in the nib will dry and clog the nib if not used for a while. This was actually my biggest pet peeve. As I was not using the pens regularly, I would often encounter this problem. Lastly, fountain pens can sometimes be messy. They can leak for a variety of reasons.I highly recommend the Zig Memory System Calligraphy Markers. I also bought a six pack of black Zig Memory System Calligraphy Markers. I plan to buy a larger set with more colors in the future.

Never go wrong with Zig pens!

Nice color saturation
As a marker set this is great. The only problem is I am no pro and when I pause in writing I cannot get the flow going, the result looks like chicken scratches untill I get the ink moving again. These are easy to use, have GREAT color saturation, and are not messy at all like some pen sets. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because I have used other marker sets that work much nicer for me. A really good buy at the right price.

Great pens!
Great 2 double sided calligraphy markers, fine tip and a broad tip with 4 colors, so theres a lot of room for flexibility and creativity. Does come with a plastic case as well, perfect for bringing it on the go with you and not loosing them. I’ve been using these for a few days now and I’m pleased with the quality of these markers. I had no problems with the caps falling off, there were very secure. Overall, great pen.

Clean & Fast
These markers are great if you don’t want to get out the pen and ink. Although not as Sharp as nibs, they can still give excellent results. Great for doing addresses on envelopes, or just be creative with the colors and different sizes.

About half way dried out when they arrived
I think these could be good pens but they were about 50% of the way dry when I received them. I have used other calligraphy pens a lot, and they get this way when they have been used quite a bit and are getting close to being dried out. I don’t know if this would be your experience or not. Maybe Amazon will get a new batch in and yours will be fresher than mine.

Zig markers are my favorite calligraphy markers by leaps and bounds and miles and yards. I’m a very casual hobbyist who can’t be bothered with regular practice, guidelines, or strict kerning, but I do like to jot down some short calligraphy from time to time. I went from dip pens with speedball nibs to catridge pens, and finally to markers. These are my most favorite in the whole wide world. They take years to dry out, they’re dependable, they don’t make a mess, and they’re lightfast. What’s not to love?
