Great consistency, easy to throw pottery with, or do hand building. For the money, an excellent way to relearn old skills with a pottery wheel. Absolutely flawless, and it dries evenly after being thrown. Consistent formulation, and very very smooth finishes can be be achieved. Very damp out of the plastic, but ready for immediate use. Buying a 50 lb box of clay, for this price is awesome. Not so much for the delivery driver who left it on the porch. If I had known what time they were going to deliver, I would have gotten it myself, as the box was of a certain configuration that made it difficult to carry. So Apologies to my suffering Amazon Delivery Driver. Yet oddly enough, none of the local porch pirates tried to steal it, so that alone made it worth it. In fact, if Amazon wanted to mitigate theft of peopleās packages, label the box āheavy, WET CLAYā.All kidding aside, Itās a fantastic product and worth every penny.

Excellent for Throwing & Handbuilding
I have been using this clay exclusively for almost a year now, after breaking up with my online supplier for just overall terrible experiences. This company ships quickly and i never have to chase a shipment. The clay itself is easy to work with, forgiving and holds very crisp detail. Color is true as stated on the test strip. Holds glaze really well.A few notes regarding other reviews:Clay exploding: This is not due to the clay. Usually this is caused by the piece not being dried enough for the speed at which it was fired. Firing is the process of water removal from the clay and when there is too much water present or the kiln is heated too quickly; you blow stuff up. Make sure the work is bone dry and you should not have this issue.Too brittle for functional use: This has not been my experience at all. I have created everything from cups to bowls and larger scale platters with this clay and all have weathered well.The ONLY thing I don’t love about this clay is the color…I really want this in brick red clay and can’t seem to find a reliable supplier; but that is personal preference.

Great for kids and learners!
I really love this clay. I bought it to have something for both my kids and my students (while also on a small budget). Itās great! Really plastic and stays soft for longer than other clay bodies – which is great for kids that handle clay a lot and dry it out. Itās also easier on little hands to manipulate. The image of the bunnies is a project I did with my five-year-old and he was able to handbuild with ease unlike previous play with a stoneware body. Thin, delicate shapes are also easily accomplished with this clay body.I fired to 04 for bisque, and havenāt had the opportunity to play with glazes yet, but the clay is brittle even after firing. I wouldnāt recommend this clay for outdoor or functional use.In addition, the company this clay ships from has excellent customer service. When my box of 50 pounds arrived, there was only 25 pounds in the box. Somewhere in transit, the 50 pounds broke through the tape and half of the shipment went missing. When it arrived, I emailed regarding the missing half and a new shipment was promptly sent to me.

Good quality clay
I used this clay with kids projects and every project came out perfectly! Even thick and heavy pinch pots. The clay was soft and workable enough for small hands and dried fairly quickly. After firing, we used tempera paints to paint instead of glaze and the paint came out fine on the red clay. Best value for your money!!

Love this clay, the price, the shipping
Rather than order from my regular clay supplier, I saw this online and ordered it since it came from Amaco, and I love Amaco glazes. This clay is just wonderful, warm, supple, fires perfectly, accepts glazes perfectly. (The last batch of red clay I got….not this stuff…was so full of iron that no matter what kind of glaze you put on the piece it looked awful). The shipping was reasonable and the packaging was much better than my actual clay supplier provides (a box all bashed in usually). Great big stiff box, great clay, happy workers. This is used for an 7-person adult clay class and we all love it. (We also love their white Raku, too).
